Following the destruction of Anogeia, General Müller ordered further reprisals targeting villages in the Amari Valley, at the foot of Mount Kedros, an area also suspected of aiding the resistance and Kreipe’s escape. Beginning on August 22, 1944, this campaign, known as the Kedros Holocaust or Holocaust of Amari, involved the mass execution of over 164 civilians and the systematic destruction of nine villages through razing, looting, and the destruction of livestock and harvests. Specific villages impacted included Skourvoula, Magarikari, and Kamares (where inhabitants were executed at Skourvoula on August 14, just prior to the main operation). The broader operation devastated the Amari region.
