Mission Accomplished

The day after their clandestine departure from Crete, on May 15, 1944, the Royal Navy Motor Launch carrying Major Leigh Fermor, Captain Moss, General Kreipe, and their core Cretan team arrived safely at the Allied-controlled port of Mersa Matruh in Egypt. This marked the successful completion of the operational phase of the Kreipe abduction, bringing the captured general securely into Allied territory.
