Water Festival 2025 in Zaros

The Zaros Cultural Association presents the annual “Water Festival,” a four-day celebration of nature, culture, and tradition set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Zaros. From Thursday, August 7th, to Sunday, August 10th, 2025, the village of Zaros will host a series of events that highlight the region’s rich natural heritage, intrinsically linked to its famous spring water.
The festival offers a diverse program designed for all ages, blending entertainment with activities that honour the local environment and customs. The festivities commence with a major concert by the renowned Cretan artist Vasilis Skoulas at the Zaros Open Theatre. The following days feature a variety of experiences, including an open-air film screening by the lake, a guided hike through the beautiful Rouvas gorge, and hands-on workshops.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in traditional crafts like pottery, enjoy local delicacies, and partake in recreational activities such as fishing in the lake. The event culminates in a series of creative workshops and traditional serenades that fill the village streets with music. The festival is a tribute to the vital role of water in the life and identity of Zaros, a place renowned for its natural springs and the bottled water that bears its name.
