The Rokka Festivals 2025

July 29 - August 4
Rokka archaeological site, Toulli hill, the gorge and the modern settlement of Rokka

The Rokka Festivals return in 2025, breathing life into the villages of the Kissamos inland with a celebration of art, culture, and collective experience. For twelve years, this annual institution has transformed the villages of Rokka and Kera into a vibrant, handmade festival. This year, the festivities expand to include the village of Pervolakia for the first time, continuing a tradition that masterfully blends the natural landscape of rural Crete with contemporary artistic expression.

The festival has become a significant cultural event, demonstrating that art can flourish in the countryside. It creates a unique stage where tradition meets modern creativity. A key element of the festival’s identity is the “Rokka Symphony Orchestra,” an ambitious project that brings the grandeur of symphonic music to an unconventional setting, nestled within a gorge under the Cretan sky. This initiative not only provides a platform for talented musicians but also fosters a connection between international artists and the local community, enriching the cultural heritage of the area. The orchestra’s presence highlights the preparation, dedication, and collaborative power behind artistic creation, aspects often unseen by the public.
