10th Mylopotamos Land: A Celebration of Local Culture, Arts, and Production

The Cultural and Educational Association of Perama, in collaboration with the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Mylopotamos, and the Rethymno Chamber of Commerce, presents the “10th Mylopotamos Land” festival. This three-day event, held in the central square of the Perama Town Hall, is a vibrant showcase designed to highlight the rich and positive identity of the Mylopotamos region by gathering its diverse productive, entrepreneurial, cultural, and artistic communities in one celebration.
The festival serves as a meeting point for local producers, artists, and cultural associations to display their work, which is deeply connected to the Cretan land. Using the earth of Mylopotamos as their primary inspiration and source, the exhibitors transform simple, local materials into exceptional goods worthy of a place in modern life. The event is further enriched by the participation of cultural associations from across the municipality, each presenting the unique character and traditions of their home village. This collective presentation aims not to create competition, but to celebrate the shared heritage and beautiful diversity that defines the Mylopotamos area. A special focus of the event is the demonstration of traditional crafts and local products, such as the intricately decorated ceremonial bread known as the xombliasto koulou.
