Singing the Eternal: A Musical Evening at Zominthos

The Municipality of Anogeia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Rethymno, and the Region of Crete, presents a unique musical event featuring the distinguished composer Dimitris Papadimitriou at the archaeological site of Zominthos. This special concert, titled “Zominthos-Anogeia 1900 BC – 2000 AD: Singing Today the Eternal & the Universal,” is set to take place in the heart of the Psiloritis mountains, offering a profound connection between music and ancient heritage.
In the commanding landscape of the Minoan Palace of Zominthos, a site of great historical importance now inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, music will form a bridge between the past and the present. The composer Dimitris Papadimitriou has conceived and designed this concert exclusively for Zominthos, drawing deep inspiration from its history, the mysteries of the Minoan Civilization, and the unique atmosphere of the archaeological site itself. The performance aims to create a powerful dialogue between sound, memory, and the soul of this ancient Cretan location.
This musical narrative will highlight the inseparable relationship between art and history, set against the backdrop of a site that holds memories of more than three millennia. The evening’s performance will be enhanced by the voices of acclaimed singers Veronika Davaki and Vasilis Korakakis. Entrance to this memorable cultural event is free to the public.
