The 2nd Olive and Olive Oil Festival is set to take place in Ano Viannos, establishing itself as a significant annual event for the region. Organized by the Cultural Association of Ano Viannos with the support of the Municipality of Viannos, the Region of Crete, and the Michael Archangelos Parish of Ano Viannos, this two-day celebration aims to highlight the area’s high-quality olive oil. The festival serves to honor the deep-rooted traditions of the land and support local olive producers, showcasing a product central to Cretan culture and economy.

This event provides a platform to celebrate the exceptional olive oil produced from the renowned groves of the Viannos area. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture through a variety of activities. The festival grounds will feature exhibition kiosks dedicated to olives and olive oil, alongside a painting exhibition by artist Elena Anadiotou at the local folklore museum. Further enriching the experience will be a workshop on traditional basket weaving and another dedicated to crafting traditional dishes and mezedes, all based on the region’s extra virgin olive oil. The evenings will be filled with musical performances, with a popular music night on the first day and a traditional Cretan celebration on the second, complete with local dance groups.
