August Full Moon Concert: Unseen Symphonies at Rokka

On the night of the August full moon, the Rokka Symphony Orchestra will present “Unseen Symphonies,” a major musical event at the Rokka archaeological site, conducted by Luca Gliozzi. This concert stands as the pinnacle of the Rokka Festivals, offering a rich program that highlights the musical traditions of Scandinavia and Greece, weaving them together as an “unseen symphony” between two peoples—a message of coexistence, hope, peace, and creativity.
The evening holds special significance as it falls within the “Year of Mikis Theodorakis 2025.” In a gesture of high symbolism, Greek pianist Konstantinos Papadakis will perform the Cretan premiere of Theodorakis’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a piece with a unique historical connection to Sweden. The concert culminates with Dvořák’s magnificent Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” a masterpiece that embodies cultural dialogue. The unique character of the Rokka events is defined by the experience itself: the ascent to the archaeological site, the dramatic gorge, the warm hospitality of the local community, and the sublime classical music transform the evening into a profound sensory and cultural event. Admission is free for all.
