Jazz from the Earth to the Moon at Tylissos

August 9 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

On the night of the August full moon, the significant archaeological site of Tylissos will once again resonate with the sounds of jazz for the event “Jazz from the Earth to the Moon.” This special evening is organized through a collaboration between “You Are What U Do – Kostas Kouvidis,” the Municipality of Malevizi, SOS Traffic Crimes, the Heraklion Archaeological Service, and the Tylissos Cultural Association. The concert takes place in a location steeped in Minoan history, where three well-preserved villas stand as a testament to the area’s importance in ancient Crete.

The event marks the return of the artists who first established the tradition of jazz performances at this site back in August 2011: singer Fenia Papadodima and bassist Giorgos Palamiotis, who will perform with their quintet. More than a musical celebration, this annual concert holds a deep and poignant significance. It is dedicated to the memory of the talented musician Kostas Kouvidis, who was tragically killed in a traffic accident in 2007, and to all victims of traffic incidents. The event serves as a powerful remembrance and a call to action, using music to unite voices in a message for an end to the ongoing loss of life on the roads.
