As of June 2025, a new Geotour WordPress theme was developed and activated. Not all the information has been migrated as it should, and it will take some time to address all the issues.
I had to make a foundational redevelopment aimed at enhancing user experience, performance, but most of all, the future scalability for exploring the Cretan landscape. This initiative to rebuild the theme from a commercial to a custom one, from the ground up, allows for more granular control over performance optimization and provides a robust framework for the effective integration of new functionalities.
At the same time, the lack of time and resources made me disable the Greek language all together. Keeping up with the translations at this time and with this pace is impossible.

Key Enhancements and Features:
Advanced Mapping Integration:
The theme features a significantly improved map integration for listings. A new suite of map control icons has been implemented directly on this map interface. These icons, styled for clarity and ease of use, provide direct access to:
- External Google Maps for the location.
- The Geotour website’s route planner, pre-filled with the current listing.
- An interactive Cesium-based 3D map, centered on the listing’s coordinates.
- Conditional icons also provide direct links to specialized 3D experiences if available for a listing:
- 3D Video Paths: eg https://tour.geotour.gr/3dmap/?videopath=vathy&t=200 .
- 3D Tours: Links to 3D tours eg https://tour.geotour.gr/3dmap/?tour=kreipe.
The theme architecture emphasizes the connection between listings and their associated virtual experiences. The aforementioned map control icons for 3D video paths and 3D tours directly link listings to these immersive visualizations.
The website also connects to the 2D virtual tour, ensuring that users can easily access all available virtual exploration options for a listing.
